AP seeks Rs 10,000 cr for drought relief
The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to seek Rs 10,000 crore from the Centre to undertake drought relief measures in the state. A memorandum will be submitted to the Union government shortly. A decision to this effect was taken at a review meeting held by chief minister, K Rosaiah, on Sunday.

Pricewaterhouse approaches Delhi HC against govt action

The Delhi-based franchise of audit firm PricewaterhouseCoopers today approached the Delhi High Court seeking quashing of proceedings initiated against it by the government in the aftermath of Satyam scam. - Govt asks SFIO to stop Satyam probe to avoid duplication - CBI team in Mauritius to probe multi-crore scam - PwC submits revised bid document for Shamuka project - ICAI seeks info on audit with foreign tie-ups - Mahindra Satyam forms global alliance with Vision Solutions - 'Pledging of shares allowed us to save Maytas Infra' It pleaded before the court that the government proceedings were illegal as they have no connection with the Bangalore-based franchise which had audited Satyam accounts. "There are six franchises of the international audit firm in the country and they are not related to each other in any way. We have nothing to do with the Bangalore firm which had audited Satyam accounts. "So there doesn"t arise any cause of action against us in the aftermath of the Satyam scam," senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for the Delhi-firm, pleaded. He submitted that the proceeding against it should be quashed immediately. Justice Sanjeev Khanna after hearing his arguments asked the government counsel to take instructions from the Centre and inform the court.
