Naveen launches HAM Radio

The chief minister Naveen Patnaik today launched HAM Radio Communication network in the state. This is expected to improve the preparedness to face the natural disasters. Speaking on the disaster mitigation day here, the chief minister said, the Orissa State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) in collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) will set up 220 Automated Weather Stations (AWS) in different parts of the state. - Defaulting industries to pay "pollution charge" - Central Bank, Ipicol ink pact for Rs 25,000 crore funds - Centre asked to include HIV positive people in BPL list - Naveen seeks more power from NTPC - Afforestation for 10 lakh hectares - Orissa govt taken aback at Mittal withdrawal Similarly, the state government has provided land and building to IMD for setting up of Doppler radars at Paradeep, Gopalpur, Balasore and Sambalpur.
