Markets extend losses

The Sensex is quoting at 16,633, down by 232 points and the Nifty is placed at 4,922, lower by 81 points. - Bharti Airtel leads combined value, volume chart - Sensex down in red; RCom drops 11% - Markets off highs - Markets open in the green - Market may open on a steady note - Sensex snaps three-day gains, down 268 points The major losers on the Sensex are Reliance Communications (slipped by 11.8% at Rs 264), Bharti Airtel (shed 11.8% at Rs 353), Tata Motors (lost 3.7% to Rs 540) and DLF (lower by 3.6% at Rs 407). Jaiprakash Associates, ACC and Wipro have lost between 2 and 3 per cent each. The leading Sensex gainers are ITC (stronger by 2.1% at Rs 243), Hindustan Unilever (firm by 2.1% at Rs 272) and Hindalco (up by 1.6% at Rs 120). Grasim and ONGC have gained up to 1% each. The major losers on the Nifty are Bharti Airtel (down by 12% at Rs 352), Reliance Communications (lower by 11.6% at Rs 264) and Idea (weak by 11.1% at Rs 62) The top Nifty gainers are Hindustan Lever (firmer by 2.4% at Rs 243), ITC (stronger by 1.9% at Rs 243) and Hindalco (stronger by 1.6% at Rs 120).
